The YMCA’s Sharks Swim Team participates in the Boulder Valley Summer Swim League (BVSSL) and takes swimmers to the next level with a focus on technique, skill, endurance and speed. Our swimmers nurture their swimming abilities while also learning the importance of hard work, teamwork and sportsmanship. Participants are divided into groups based on age, skill performance and endurance. Kids are encouraged to come to every practice and will compete in meets throughout the summer.
Practices are held at the Lafayette Y.
Registration includes league dues, a team t-shirt and swim cap, entry fees for the championship meet and awards at the end of season banquet.
It is required that swimmers be able to swim the distances assigned to their age group in order to sign up for the Sharks Swim Team: 25 meters (ages 6-8); 50 meters (ages 9-10); 100 meters (ages 11-18).
Sharks pre-team swimmers must be able to complete a minimum of 25 meters of freestyle and backstroke to sign up.
