When will the Loveland YMCA open?
Before & After School Care will begin in August. Preschool will begin in January 2024. Building renovation work will take a few months, and we hope to have our doors fully open in winter. As with development of any new facility, things can change, so we ask for your patience.
Where will the facility be located?
The Loveland YMCA will be located at the former Mary Blair Elementary School on 29th Street, just east of Monroe Avenue.
When can we sign up for preschool?
We will start preschool registration on September 5, 2023 and the first day of preschool will be January 8, 2024. The preschool will provide early childhood education, active play and character-focused programming for children ages 2.5 to 6. We accept the Colorado Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) and will also serve families covered under Colorado’s new Universal Pre-Kindergarten program. We expect to add infant and toddler care within the first year of opening.
What will the hours of operation be?
Hours of operation have not yet been solidified for the Loveland YMCA, and we will ask for community feedback to help us determine the need. The hours of operation at other Northern Colorado Ys — Lafayette, Boulder, Johnstown and Longmont — are 5am-9pm on weekdays and reduced hours on weekends. We will most likely mirror those hours.
When will you begin hiring, and what sort of positions will you be filling?
We will begin to hire several months prior to opening to allow for training, likely in the summer. There will be many employment opportunities — from preschool teachers and childcare staff to trainers and fitness instructors and membership staff. You can check our careers page in the coming months.
How much will a membership cost?
We are still assessing pricing, and we will post that information as soon as we have solidified it. One thing to note: The Y has nationwide membership, which means you can visit other Ys throughout Colorado, including Longmont, Lafayette, Johnstown and Boulder, and 98 percent of all Ys across the country. We will offer a variety of membership types for individuals, couples, seniors and families as well as corporate memberships, military memberships and Renew Active, SilverSneakers and SilverandFit memberships. Members receive discounts on YMCA programs, including summer camp, personal training and youth sports. The YMCA also provides donor-funded financial assistance to those who qualify. Funds raised by the Y ensure all children, families, individuals and seniors have access to preschool, youth sports and wellness opportunities. At the Y, we strive to turn no one away because of an inability to pay.
How can I support the Loveland Y’s work?
The Loveland Y building will require millions of dollars in capital improvements, and we will need help from champions like you. While many aspects of the building are well suited for its new life as a YMCA, there is a need for significant upgrades and improvements. In order to make the building fully functional, effective and responsive as a YMCA, we must come together to modernize, improve and transform this building into a community center that serves all. These projects include retrofitting the building with air conditioning, upgrading the preschool space, building a playground, purchasing fitness equipment and much more.
